The Space Between Who You Were and Who You’re Becoming

There is a strange space in life where you no longer feel like the person you used to be, but you’re not quite sure who you’re becoming either.

It can feel like being lost. Old habits don’t fit the same. Certain people, places, and ways of thinking begin to feel distant. Yet the next version of your life hasn’t fully revealed itself.

We often rush through this space because uncertainty is uncomfortable. We want answers. We want to know where we’re going and who we’ll be when we get there.

But maybe this space isn’t something to escape.

Growth sometimes requires a period where nothing feels completely certain. Like shedding an old layer, there may be a moment when you’re simply exposed to the unknown.

Instead of immediately filling that emptiness, sit with it. Pay attention to what no longer feels true. Notice what you’re naturally being pulled toward. Give yourself permission to change without needing to explain exactly what you’re becoming.

You don’t always need to have yourself figured out.

Sometimes becoming begins when you finally stop trying to remain who you were.
