We spend so much of our lives waiting for something to happen.
The relationship. The new job. More money. The trip. The breakthrough. That mysterious future moment when everything finally feels like it has fallen into place.
But while we’re waiting for life to begin, life is quietly happening.
It’s happening during the drive home with your favorite song playing. It’s happening when you make yourself something to eat after a long day. It’s the random conversation that makes you laugh, the cold air hitting your face, the sunset you almost didn’t notice, or the few peaceful minutes before falling asleep.
These moments rarely announce themselves as important.
That’s what makes them so easy to miss.
We often imagine the meaningful parts of our lives will be obvious while they’re happening. But think about some of your favorite memories. Many probably started as completely ordinary days. You didn’t know you were creating a memory—you were simply there.
Maybe spirituality isn’t always about escaping ordinary life to find something deeper.
Maybe it’s about realizing there was never anything ordinary about being alive in the first place.
Everything is temporary. The places you visit every day will eventually change. People will come and go. You will become different versions of yourself. Even the routines you occasionally complain about will one day exist only as memories.
So don’t wait until something disappears to recognize that it mattered.
Drink your coffee. Listen to the song. Look at the sky. Laugh a little longer. Pay attention to the people sitting beside you.
This isn’t the waiting room before your real life begins.
This is your life.
