Let Go of Closure: Not Every Story Ends with Answers

We’ve been taught to seek closure like it’s the final chapter of every story — a clean end, a satisfying conclusion, a reason for the pain. But real life? It doesn’t always come gift-wrapped with clarity. Sometimes, the apology never comes. The reason never arrives. The person doesn’t change. The ending never makes sense.

And that’s okay.

The truth is, closure isn’t something someone else gives you. It’s something you choose. You choose it when you stop needing their validation to heal. You choose it when you stop letting the past dictate your present. You choose it when you accept that not everything has to make sense in order for you to move forward.

Life is messy, unfinished, and often unexplainable. People disappear without a goodbye. Emotions get left unresolved. We outgrow versions of ourselves and never get to tell the people who helped shape them. And yet, we survive. We adapt. We evolve.

So, what if the real closure isn’t about having answers, but about choosing peace instead of holding onto pain?

Let go of the urge to re-read every chapter trying to make sense of it all. Let go of the “what ifs,” “whys,” and “if onlys.” Instead, hold onto the lessons. The growth. The strength you didn’t know you had until life asked you to keep going without an ending that made sense.

Closure isn’t a door someone else closes for you. It’s a path you walk on your own — not because the past is resolved, but because you’ve decided you’re ready to grow beyond it.
